Governor Palin | Doesn’t Finish the Job

Palin resigns her post. One can speculate that the state of Alaska will be in better hands when Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell takes over the responsibilities that Palin is abandoning.

Yet, if Palin truly is leaving in order to prepare herself for a 2012 Presidential run, what does it say about her character as a leader? We can surmise that she places her ambitions ahead of following through on a job she was elected to do.

Unless there are family matters she is attending to, which is not something she has stated, or she's too strained from her endeavours, leaving an elected office 17 months early of her term's expiration in December of 2010, while saying she's "doing what’s best for Alaska," means Palin is effectively giving herself a vote of no confidence.

From the NYTimes The Causus blog:

Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska announced Friday that she would step down by the end of the month and not seek a second term as governor, fueling speculation that she is seriously weighing whether to seek the Republican nomination for president in 2012.

Bread and Circuses | Iran Tries to Pacify Protest with ‘Lord of the Rings’ Trilogy

Via Slashdot:

Iranian state television's Channel Two is playing a Lord of the Rings marathon in an attempt to keep people inside watching hobbits and not protesting in the streets.

I wonder if there's a hidden, symbolic meaning to the Iranian government selecting that trilogy. Or, maybe the translation provided will provide one.

Why do we keep electing the worst kind of people governor?

The sorry plight of South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford.

People fall in love with other people. It happens. Okay.

People need to take a break and get away. It's true. Okay.

But STATE GOVERNORS need to communicate those things. Directly to the people that matter. A lot sooner than Gov. Sanford did.

(And not skip out of town when they have 4 little boys wondering where he is on Father's Day.)
