Africans elated by first black U.S. president – CNN.com

I think the reporting on the reaction of the world's public to Obama's win is amazing:

Africans elated by first black U.S. president - CNN.com: "Residents picked up the president-elect's half-brother Malik and carried him through the village, The Associated Press reported. 'Unbelievable!' Malik shouted, leading the family in chanting, 'Obama's coming, make way!'

Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki called Obama's election 'a momentous day not only in the history of the United States of America, but also for us in Kenya. The victory of Senator Obama is our own victory because of his roots here in Kenya. As a country, we are full of pride for his success.'"
